Five victims identified in rape and murder case
NEW DELHI
01/02/2007
Grieving parents have identified five of the 17 victims of an alleged serial killer whose bodies were recovered from the backyard of a house on the outskirts of the Indian capital, a police officer said Tuesday. The parents identified their children's remains through clothes and slippers, stuffed in a bag, that were recovered along with 17 skulls on Friday and Saturday from Noida, a posh township east of New Delhi, said Superintendent of Police Soumitra Yadav. One of the two accused, Surender Kohli, confessed to killing 10 children when police confronted him with photographs during questioning, Yadav told The Associated Press. The owner of the house, Mohinder Singh Pandher, and Kohli, his domestic servant, allegedly raped and killed the victims over the past two years and dumped their dismembered bodies in the sewage drains behind Pandher's house. They are in police custody, charged with kidnapping, rape and murder. DNA testing is being done to identify all the 17 victims, he said.
