Gabby also attacked the Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for the suspected Likud billboard advertisement bashing left-wing parties.
Labor leader Avi Gabbay said he would not give up his leadership position, likely in response to his promise of 'surprises' and the merging of political parties, when asked on an interview on Army Radio on Sunday.

"Why should I give it up?" Gabbay asked rhetorically, "so they will sit with [Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu in the government?!"

Gabbay also attacked the Netanyahu for the suspected Likud billboard advertisement bashing left-wing parties.

"He tears this country apart, whether it's the clip or billboards we saw on the weekend. The state wants a normal prime minister who talks about true values," said Gabbay.

The billboard said they “won’t decide,” echoing a statement Netanyahu made before that the left won't be a deciding factor on who will win the upcoming elections.

The Meretz Party asked State Comptroller Joseph Shapira to check if the anonymous billboard breaks election laws.

“An active body in the election must register with the State Comptroller and follow the relevant instructions in the law,” wrote Meretz Secretary-General Tomer Resnick and the party’s attorney, Dror Morag.

“This is inappropriate election propaganda, hiding sources of funding. Such actions are a crime that carries a prison sentence,” Morag added.
