Pakistani man accused of spying for US killed
06/09/2007
Suspected pro-Taliban Islamic militants fatally shot a Pakistani tribesman near the Afghan border after accusing him of spying for the United States, an intelligence official and residents said Saturday. Villagers found the bullet-riddled body of Rahim Khan, 35, on the outskirts of Miran Shah, the main town in the troubled North Waziristan tribal region on Saturday, the official said on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to talk to the media. Residents said the victim had been shot in the head and chest, and a note left with his body warned of a similar punishment for those who would spy for the US forces operating in neighboring Afghanistan.
