Tal Ben-Haim's call-up to national squad by coach Dror Kashtan ends one of the most unnecessary and avoidable saga's of recent weeks in Israeli sport. The Bolton Wanderers player was sent home by Kashtan two days prior to the friendly match against Slovenia two weeks ago, after he refused to train with the team during training camp. Ben-Haim claimed to be suffering from an injury, but team doctor Mark Rosnovski cleared him to train and Kashtan demanded that the player practice with the rest of his teammates. The defender wouldn't train and the coach decided not to let him play against Slovenia. After not speaking to each other for 10 days following the incident, Ben-Haim called Kashtan and reconciled with him. Kashtan accepted the apology and brought an end to the pointless argument by recalling Ben-Haim to the squad on Monday.
