Anda Ramat Hasharon made history Sunday night, becoming the first Israeli side to face a WNBA team. Ramat Hasharon, which finished as runner-up in the Israeli league less than three weeks ago, lost to the host Washington Mystics 87-63 in an exhibition game at Verizon Center. "This game was an event of historic value for Israeli and US women basketball," Anda coach Orna Ostfeld said. "We are not at their level, but this meeting is about far more than a basketball game." More than 5,000 fans attended the game, including many fans from the local Jewish community who came out to support the Israeli side. The Mystics controlled the game right from the tip-off, opening a 19-3 lead after eight minutes. The host's superiority thwarted any attempted Ramat Hasharon comeback and Washington cruised to the victory after leading 48-29 at halftime. Laurie Koehn of the Mystics was high scorer with 24 points. No Ramat Hasharon player scored in double figures.
