Anda signs Maccabiah USA star

Women's basketball powerhouse comes to terms with Jewish-American center Jennifer Fleischer.

Women's basketball powerhouse Anda Ramat Hasharon announced on Saturday that it had come to terms with Jewish-American center Jennifer Fleischer of the University of Pennsylvania. Fleischer, 22, is the daughter of former Maccabi Tel Aviv player Bob Fleischer, who played in Israel in the 1970s. She first drew attention in Israel last summer, when she helped the USA team to the gold medal at the Maccabiah. During her senior season at Penn, the 1.91-meter pivot averaged 8.4 points and 9.7 rebounds, ranking 32nd among all NCAA players in the latter category. She also amassed an impressive 25 double-doubles during her Penn career. According to the team's press release, Fleischer will receive citizenship before the season starts and will also play for the Israel national team.
