After two straight losses, Maccabi Tel Aviv returned to winning ways on Monday night, defeating Maccabi Netanya 2-0 on the road courtesy of two first half goals from Eliran Atar (seen above celebrating with teammates).
Tel Aviv fans were calling for the head of manager Avi Nimni after the recent defeats to Hapoel Acre and Ironi Kiryat Shmona, but Monday’s win, the first for the yellow-and-blue in Netanya in more than six years, relieves a lot of the pressure, taking Maccabi into fourth position in the standings, three points from top-of-the-table Kiryat Shmona.
Tel Aviv dominated Monday’s encounter, with Atar opening the scoring eight minutes into the match and securing the three points in the 33rd minute.
