Israel coach Tzvika Sherf named a 20-man squad on Thursday night for next month's EuroBasket 2007 last-chance qualifying tournament. Maccabi Tel Aviv swingman Tal Burstein, who was hoping he would be exempted from national team duty this summer to rest his aching body, was called up and will need to report to the team's first training session on Sunday afternoon. Burstein may still be released from the side, should the national team doctor find him unfit for Israel's upcoming games. Lior Eliyahu, who is currently training with the NBA's Houston Rockets, will need to return from the US and join the squad for the July 15 workout. Israel faces Ukraine, Denmark and Belgium in Group C of the last-chance tournament, which begins on August 8. The team needs to finish first in group play to qualify for a three-team competition in Madrid later in August. The winner will advance to the European basketball championships to be held in Spain in early September. Israel squad: Dror Hajaj, Yotam Halperin, Raviv Limonad, Jeron Roberts, Tal Burstein, Meir Tapiro, Moran Rot, Afik Nisim, Guy Pnini, Matan Naor, Moshe Mizrahi, Lior Eliyahu, Amit Tamir, Itzik Ohanon, Or Aitan, Yaniv Green, Erez Markovich, Moshe Yakosi, Ido Kozikaro, Sharon Sason.
