Lior Eliyahu scored 10 points and grabbed four rebounds in his NBA summer league debut for the Houston Rockets in Las Vegas Tuesday night. Houston defeated the Los Angels Clippers 90-76, with the Rockets' No. 1 pick (26th overall) in the 2007 draft, Aaron Brooks, leading the way with 21 points and eight assists. Eliyahu, who was selected 44th in the 2006 NBA draft, was five for eight from the field and blocked one shot in 17 minutes of play. The 22-year-old Maccabi Tel Aviv forward, who has been training with the Rockets staff the last couple of weeks, will return to Israel over the weekend to join the national team. Israel coach Tzvika Sherf insisted that Eliyahu join his squad this coming Sunday, ahead of the EuroBasket 2007 last-chance tournament. Eliyahu had initially hoped to remain with the Rockets until the final summer league game Sunday night against the New Orleans Hornets, but will instead report to the national team's training session at Hadar Yosef earlier in the day.
