Figure Skating: Zaretskis inch up standings

Alexandra and Roman Zaretski moved up one spot to 12th place in the ice dancing competition at the World Figure Skating Championships in Tokyo after scoring 49.11 points in their original dance on Thursday. The Israelis, who finished 20th at last year's world championships, will wrap up their participation in Japan with the free dance on Friday. Israeli Tamar Katz, who finished 13th at the European Figure Skating Championships just two months ago, will skate her short program on Friday. On Wednesday, Sergei Kotov finished the men's short program in 32nd with 43.99 points. Kotov, who came in 24th at the European championships, did not advance to Thursday's free program. Only the top 24 finishers in the short program qualified.
