Flag Football: Cobras, Zeffinators and Wizard World improve to 6-0

Big Blue shuts out the Trumanettes 58-0 in Week 2 of the Real Housing Women's American Football in Israel league.

Three teams in the Moshiko AFI men's contact flag football league are 6-0 after Week 4. The Cobras' offense took a little while to get going against Croton Watches at Ramat Eshkol last weekend, but the defense was perfect, posting 6-0 and 28-0 shutouts at the field in Ramat Eshkol. On Friday afternoon at Kraft Family Stadium in Jerusalem, the Zeffinators swept their doubleheader against Eretz Hatzvi, 20-0 and 26-0. Wizard World posted 25-0 and 12-0 victories over Mishaan Plumbers earlier Friday, also at Kraft Family Stadium. Four shutouts in week two of women's league Big Blue shut out the Trumanettes 58-0 in Week 2 of the Real Housing Women's American Football in Israel league. Gefen Stein scored three touchdowns, one off an interception. Gilat Kupietsky and Leah Foreman scored two TDs each, and Carni Brodie scored one. Quarterback Shana Sprung scored a touchdown as well. Stein also scored two extra points, and Rachel Shmidman and Sarit Bailey each scored one. Bailey also had two interceptions. Vringo blanked the Winter Blizzards 21-0. Touchdowns were scored by Adina "Brick" Brickman, Elissa Sagoskin, and quarterback Yael Freedman. Brickman scored all three extra points. On defense, Sagoskin had one interception. The Lightnings' recorded a 32-0 victory over Eden's Eagles. Racheli Silverman scored three touchdowns, and her sister, Shiffy, scored one, as did Tirza Wilner. Racheli also scored both extra points of the game, and had one interception. The fourth shutout of the evening at Kraft Family Stadium belonged to the Mishaan Plumbers, who rolled over Nativ 66-0. Estie "Baseball" Bernstien and Ayelet Wartelsky scored three touchdowns each, one of Bernstien's coming on an interception return. Jessie Sagoskin also scored a TD, which she ran in from the Plumbers' 10-yard line. Ayelet Hecht had two touchdowns, one off an interception - a tipped ball from teammate Adi Taylor. Going for two-point conversions throughout the game, quarterback Aviva Gershon, who played one of the best games of her career, connected with Bernstien three times, Wartelsky twice, and Sagoskin once. On defense, Bernstein picked the ball off three times, and Taylor and Nitza Schwartz intercepted once each. Paige's Lakers won their game against HODS 12-6. The Lakers' Ahuvah Mintz scored one touchdown, as did quarterback Ahuvah Odenheimer. On defense, Nili Block and Temima Raanan both picked off HODS passes. Ziontours defeated Diamonds.com 12-6. Ayelet Raab and Meredith Weinberg caught touchdown passes. Raab also had two interceptions on defense, and Robin Kravitz had one. Yedidya Rothner leads Manny's Men In a 42-6 victory over Briut Modi'in last week in the Yosef Goodman (z"l) High School AFI league Manny's Men star Yedidya Rothner caught two touchdowns and rushed for another pair of scores. QB Ezra Hausdorff threw an additional two touchdown passes to Binny Yeres. In a nearly perfect defensive game, Rothner, Avi Aryeh and Aaron Zalcman all had interceptions. Coupled with both Mordy Wolfosn and Rothner forcing safeties, Briut Modi'in was held to just a single first down the entire game. Terminators 40, AISJ 0 Yonatan Prat scored two TDs, including one on an interception return. Ari Ben Zeev added another six points to the scoreboard. Ehud Kashi scored a TD on a 55-yard reception, and he also had three sacks. Uri Cohen kept the rhythm going with one more touchdown. QB Din Baltiansky passed for four TD's, on defense caught an interception and returned it for a touchdown. Golani Enterprises 14, Tankers 7 Amram Sherby threw for two touchdowns, Shmuel Goldstein was on the receiving end of two TD passes, Aaron Berger had two interceptions and Elisha Miller had four sacks. Bernstein's squad edges Shuman PR In the second week of the Tuesday Night Football League, which is co-ed and non-contact, Estie Bernstein's squad defeated Shuman PR 26-20 in the most closely-contested game of the season so far. In the other two TNFL games last week, Jerusalem Massage rolled over a high-spirited Pardes team that never gave up, 41-0, and defending champion Kfar Zippori recorded its second straight lopsided victory, 37-7 over HUC.
