Three previously undefeated teams lost in week 7 of the 2006/07 American Football in Israel men's contact league. METV (2-3) defeated Vringo (4-1) 28-20, Tov Pizza (4-1) fought back a Pallorium (4-1) comeback to record a 32-21 win and Big Blue (5-0) took control in the second half of its 26-13 victory over Joe's Eagles (4-1) at Kraft Family Stadium in Jerusalem on Saturday night. All 57 teams are fighting for 32 spots in eight upper-tier groups for the second round, which will begin right after Hanukkah. The first round, in which each team plays six games, will be concluded the first weekend of Hanukkah. Pizzeria Efrat 27, UGG Australia 24 Pizzeria Efrat (4-1) stormed back from an 18-0 deficit to defeat UGG Australia (3-2) in one of the most exciting comebacks in AFI history. National team player Amir Kronberg led Efrat's charge, running and passing for four touchdowns, including the late game-winner. Trumanettes shut out Paige's Lakers The Turmanettes (3-2) defeated Paige's Lakers 33-0 in week 5 of the Women's American Football in Israel league at Kraft Family Stadium in Jerusalem on Wednesday. Elissa Sagoskin scored three touchdowns, and Adina "Brick" Brickman scored two. "Brick" also caught a pass for an extra point, and Sarit Bailey caught two. The Paige's Lakers' offense was not able to penetrate a solid Trumanettes defense led by Yael Hartman, who recorded four sacks. Dr. Ari Greenspan (0-4) was the victim of another week 5 shutout, 29-0 to Big Blue (4-1). Big Blue's Ilana Abell scored two TDs, and Gefen Stien and Estie Ettinger each scored one. Abell and Stien also scored one extra point each. In the third of four shutouts last Wednedsday evening at Kraft Family Stadium in Jerusalem, the Mishaan Plumbers (5-0) offense racked up 48 points against Klein Management (1-3). Yael Freedman, Esti "Baseball" Bernstien, Eta Flamholz and QB Shana Sprung each scored touchdowns, and center Ahuva Odenheimer scored two. Bernstien caught two passes for a two-point conversion, and Freedman caught one. Odenheimer caught a pass for an extra point. On defense, Rachel Shmidman returned an interception back for a TD and Bernstien had three interceptions. In the Arnona Bombers' 18-6 victory over Nativ, the Bombers' Libby Lapson had three touchdowns, and Dani Robinson had one interception. Also last week, it was: Eden's Eagles 19, Ziontours 0. Jewish Press defeats Pizzeria Efrat The Jewish Press came out strong early and coasted to a 55-38 victory over Pizzeria Efrat in week 6 of the 2006/07 Yosef Goodman High School American Football in Israel league at Kraft Family Stadium in Jerusalem on November 28. Yoel Ross led Pizzeria Efrat on offense with seven touchdown passes, including four to Elimeir Maltz. Uriel Ross and Shlomo Price-Bloom each scored a TD. Yad Eliezer 24, Amish Slinkyheads 18 Yad Eliezer's Dov Solomont and Avi Ettinger each had three interceptions. Chanan Kupietsky recorded two sacks, despite playing sick. Hartman 24, Briut Modi'in 6 After a balanced first half, Hartman took control of the game and shut Briut Modi'in out completely in the second period. Hartman's Boaz Goldschmidt played great on defense and recorded over 10 sacks. Yair Golinkin led the team on offense with two clutch TDs. Jaffe Strategies 27, Hunki's Pizza 19 Jaffe Strategies was missing two of its regular starters, but backup QB Yehuda Baker threw four TD passes, three to Rafi Jaffe and one to Aron Wasser.
