In ISA softball action last week, the Galil Twisters league-leading offense slugged its way to two wins, an 18-16 come-from-behind win over Crazy Richard and a 17-4 dusting of rivals Shimshon Hi-Tech. Zion Tours took two, 12-8 over Penticon and 16-6 over Crazy Richard, Eilat dropped two games, to the Dawgs 19-1 and Tigers 13-6.

The Twisters jumped out to a 12-5 lead in the fourth but Crazy Richard fought back to take the lead 14-12 after five. With their backs to the wall, the Northerners exploded for six runs with Jake Miller's bases-loaded double giving them the lead, and Alex Crane's two-run triple putting the nail in the coffin. Yosi Ajzenwaser relieved the ineffective Bill Arscott in the bottom of the sixth and allowed two runs before striking out the final two batters.
Micah Winston was 4-4 with four runs scored, Miller had a pair of doubles and four RBI's, Crane drove in four and Tomer Molovinsky had three of the Twisters' seven doubles. For CR, Seth Gilden, Alon Leichman, Amit Megiddo and Nate Rosenberg each had three hits, and Gilden and Leichman scored four times each, Oren Litz had a key triple and three RBI's, and Jay Tuch drove in three. Rosenberg played scintillating defense at shortstop.
In a key game in the B Division, the Twisters moved into a tie for first with a convincing 17-4 win over Shimshon Hi-Tech. The Beit Shemesh team's strategy of stifling the bunt worked, but the Northerners ran freely, stealing 11 bases.
Bill Arscott held the Beit Shemesh side to three unearned runs, and Shlomi Dahan allowed only one run in two innings in relief. Alex Crane had three hits, including a triple and scored three, Jake Miller scored four runs, Micah Winston doubled twice, stole two bases and scored three, Eitan Milgram drove in three runs and Moshe Hyde hit a two-run homer and turned a nifty 6-3 double play.
The highlight of the game was 53-year old, little used, player/coach, and original league member Yehuda Beinin's first homerun in his 30 year career, a drive over the right fielder's head in only his second at bat of the season. Dovid Kurtz hit a two-run triple for Shimshon and Mendy Newman had two hits and an RBI.
Zion Tours jumped out to an early 7-0 lead against Penticon who then tied it when the Jerusalemites' defense collapsed, making six errors in the fourth.
Penticon scored another in the fifth, but Dan Haskell put ZT in front for good in a five-run sixth marked by several Penticon errors. Benny Ruggill led the Capital side with a triple and three runs, Mike Doktovsky drove in two with a pair of hits, and Eitan Frankel chipped in with three hits in his season debut.
Daniel Maddy continued his hitting tear for the Sharon side with two hits. including a triple, and three runs scored.
In a sloppy, controversial game, only three of the 17 runs in Dimona's win over the Tigers were earned. The usually unflappable Dimona fireballer, Yaron Ben Israel was called again and again for not coming to a full two second stop before pitching, and the Tigers scored four runs in the first two innings on walks.
With the game tied at four, Oved Ben Israel, who played outstanding defense at 3rd, put Dimona ahead for good with one of his three hits. Ari Kanterewicz pitched well for the Tel Aviv team, but was let down by his defense, and Guy Bender drove in two runs.
The Dawgs' Yehezkel Ganz continued his run of fine pitching, holding Eilat to one run on an infield hit by Yossi Glickman in a 19-1 win. Eilat pitchers walked 18 batters in five innings while allowing only six hits. Danny Machlis and Alberto Tascher each had a pair of hits and Amos Pollack had two of Eilat's five.
The Tigers ended their four-game skid with a 13-6 victory over Eilat. The Redseamen drew first blood with two in the 1st against pitcher Goose Gillett but the Tigers tied it up on a run-scoring single by Avi Shamir. Ari Kanterewicz's two-run triple broke a 6-6 tie in the fourth to give the Tigers the lead for good. Shamir, Gillett, Jonathan Horn and Roni Bossin added RBIs to lead the Tiger attack. Amos Pollack had three hits for the Eilat, Ron Blumenthal homered and scored three, and Goto Hirofumi had two hits including a triple.
After allowing two runs in the first, Zion Tours' pitcher Blair Portnoy stifled the Crazy Richard bats for four innings while his teammates took an insurmountable lead en route to a 16-6 win. Tom Haskell had four hits, Benny Ruggill three and Noam Zwilling reached base four times, while all three scored three runs each, and Joel Katzin had two hits in his season debut for the Jerusalem team.
Tel Aviv's on-base machine, Seth Gilden again reached three times and scored two, Nate Rosenberg was 4-4, and Alon Leichman added two hits while scoring twice.
