Games We Play - Golf: Bakshi triumphs in AD 120 tourney

Scores 44 stableford points in the event for players with handicaps of 20-32; Amos Meitar and Natan Pulwer clinch 2nd and 3rd place respectively.

Aharon Bakshi finished in first place in the "AD 120" Retirement Centers tournament at Ga'ash Golf Club on Thursday. Bakshi scored 44 stableford points in the event for players with handicaps of 20-32. The day began with light refreshments and there was a great atmosphere amongst all 60 participants. The excellent weather conditions provided for very good scores. Bakshi was followed by Amos Meitar on 41 points. In third place was Natan Pulwer who beat Esther Malka on a count out, both on 40 points. The longest drive on hole 5, par 4, 301 meters was Bakshi who drove 205 meters off the tee. Nearest to the pin prizes went to Moshe Alon who came 3.29 meters from the pin on hole 4, par 3, 124 meters and on the 9th hole, par 3, 160 meters, was Eli Ziv who came 3.13 meters from the pin. Following the tournament a gala prize giving dinner was held at the Albatross restaurant, where CEO of "AD 120", David Deich, himself a member of Ga'ash Golf, presented the trophies. The tournament will now become a bi-annual event, held every May and October. One tournament will be held for under-19 handicaps and the other for over 20. Following 73-year-old Eddie Hoffman's good round of gross 75 in the last Monthly Medal, veteran golfer, 70-year-old Mike Ossip finished on Friday, in a more relaxed atmosphere, with a gross 70 to match his age and the Ga'ash course par. Playing the front nine in 35, he started with two bogies followed by two birdies and five pars. Coming back also in 35, with seven pars, a birdie and one bogie. Ga'ash will next week host the second qualifying round of the Rolex and Citroen "International Pairs" competition, the winners of which will participate in the final round at the prestigious St. Andrews Golf course compound in Scotland in July.
