Games We Play: High school semis set for today

Third-seeded IDT Global Services and fifth-seeded The Jewish Press both won last week to advance to the semifinals of the Yosef Goodman High School AFI league. On Wednesday, IDT will face the second-seeded Levine Family Chashmo Jaguars, while The Jewish Press will go up against top-seeded Tover'z Boyz. While the loss to IDT eliminated Goldstein and Berger Ltd., the team, which consisted of players competing in organized flag football for the first time ever, was cited for their sportsmanship and positive attitude throughout the season. Despite their lack of experience, Goldstein and Berger Ltd. finished their campaign with a respectable 3-4 record. The Jewish Press 13, Derech Hateva 6 In a low-scoring, defensive battle, Jewish Press quarterback Yoel Ross hooked up with his brother, Uriel, for a firsthalf touchdown. In the second half, Elimeir Maltz picked off a pass and returned it for a touchdown to seal the win. IDT Global 45, Goldstein & Berger 14 After trailing 14-7 early, IDT scored 38 unanswered points in what turned into a blowout. QB Yedidya Rothner connected on five TD passes, while game MVP Daniel Schnell had five TD catches. In the second half, Leor Sak came in as QB and through two more TD passes, including one to Leor Ochana. Moshe Rothner added three extra points in the victory. Wednesday's semifinals at Kraft Family Stadium in Jerusalem: 7 p.m. - Tover'z Boyz vs The Jewish Press; 8 p.m. - Levine Family Chashmo Jaguars vs IDT Global Services. Burgers Bar, Nadlan City ready for women's final Top-seeded Burgers Bar will square off against No. 2 Nadlan City in the Women's American Football in Israel Spring Tournament championship game, to be held at 8 p.m. Thursday night at Kraft Family Stadium in Jerusalem.
