Cyril Kaufman and Judy Keefe won the 2006 Gaash Golf Club Championships held Thursday and Friday. Kaufman, who shot a one-over 71 on the first day that was the best round of the tournament, finished with a two-day total of 155 gross, which was two strokes better than Daniel Goldsmith from Herzliya in the men's "A" Division. Reefe won the women's "A" Division title with a 177 gross, followed by Norma Kaufman on 180. Both women had gross 88s on the first day with the champion decided during a dramatic final round on Friday. Other gross scores from the 2006 Gaash Golf Club Championships: Men's "B" Division - Avinoam Ben David, 162; Simcha Cohen, 168. Men's "C" Division - Avraham Levi, 182; Eli Chitayat, 189. Women's "B" Division - Hanni Fuchs, 192; Aliza Ophir, 196. Net scores: Men's "A" Division - Avi Farkash, 140; Amos Aharoni, 142. Men's "B" Division - Salomon Levy, 140; Yeruham Shafat, 142. Men's "C" Division - Dudu Tor, 143; Elhanan Ronni, 144. Women's "A" Division - Ophra Dagan, 144; Linda Streit, 159. Women's "B" Division - Hadassah Alon, 142; Mimi Banister, 149. A record 96 golfers competed in the club championships, which were held for the first time on the recently-altered course, which is now a par-70. The new par 4 second hole played the most difficult over the two days and no player seemed to find the new par 3, 14th hole particularly easy. With so many competitors, it was no small feat for the organizers to get all the golfers around the course during daylight, while occasional hot and windy conditions kept some scores high.
