Games We Play: Norma Kaufman comes out on top

Norma Kaufman battled windy weather to finish in first place at the Ga'ash Golf Club's individual stableford competition on Tuesday. Over 50 golfers participated in what for many was a tuneup for a scheduled tournament with a group of English businessmen who will be in the country for the Israel vs England Euro 2008 qualifier on March 24. In the "A" Division on Tuesday, Kaufman and Eli Gitlin both had 36 points but Norma took the prize on the "count out" system. In the "B" Division, there was also a tie between Lawrence Goodman and Eli Chitayat (34 points), with Lawrence taking the win on the "count out" system. Mati Geri won the Wine Center of Ga'ash closest-to-the-pin prize by getting to within 1.87 meters on the 124-meter, par-3 hole No. 4. On the difficult, 160m, par-3 hole No. 9, Aviram Ganot was 7.25 meters from the pin. Mike Rubin had a hole-in-one on the 130m, par-3 hole No. 13.
