The Tigers advanced to the Semi-Finals of the Israel Softball Association Men's League with an 18-3 win in the "Play-In" game over B Pool winners Cerveceros. Meanwhile, ISP Tel Aviv captured the women's crown with a 19-5 win over Beit Shemesh. Tigers 18 Cerveceros 3 The Brewers took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on Thursday, but Tiger starter Ari Kanterewicz cruised the rest of the way, striking out five and allowing only one more run. Kanterewicz helped his own cause by putting the Tigers on the board with an RBI double in the second frame, and Shlomi Mor Hayim clubbed a run-scoring double in the third to put the Tigers ahead for good. The Tiger lead was padded by RBI singles off the bats of Gilad Lazar, Amos Pollack and Avi Shamir. The Brewers committed five costly errors, each resulting in Tiger runs. Penticon 20 Tigers 7 In a preview of the playoffs on Sunday, Penticon scored 10 runs in the first inning with timely hitting and a little help from the Tigers' leaky defense and the game was never close. Shimshon Hi-Tech 10 Galil Twisters 9 On Monday, in a meaningless game, both teams gave playing time to some of their bench players in what turned out to be a very exciting game. The free-swinging Beit Shemesh team hit the ball hard and capitalized on several Twister miscues to build a 7-0 lead while veteran pitcher Gadi Bossin held the Twisters scoreless through four. Dimona Mean Judeans 10 Penticon 8 Penticon led off with two runs in the top of the second inning, and by the fourth inning had increased their lead to 5-1 in Tuesday's game. Coming into the bottom of the sixth, Dimona pulled ahead with 3 runs, capped by a 2-run double to left by Yehuda Ben Israel. Yarone Ben Israel, Yigahl Ben Israel and Ahkaziya Ben Israel were each 3-4 for Dimona andfor Penticon, Brian Aron and Dan Aronovic were each 2-4. Crazy Richard-ReMax Raanana 6 Dawgs 4 In a hard-fought pitcher's duel, Crazy RMax outlasted the Dawgs 6-4 on Wednesday. Itamar Megiddo, whose studies at McGill University have prevented him from playing ball the past two years, pitched as though he hadn't missed game, holding the Dawgs hitless for the first four innings, the RMax defense proved to be the weak spot as the Dawgs compiled three unearned runs in the 5th, including their first hits of the game. Crazy was also kept off the scoreboard by Dawg's pitcher Aaron Kurtz for the first three innings. Yigal Rozval tripled in a run and scored in the sixth to make it 6-4 but that was all the Dawgs would get. ISP Tel Aviv 19 Beit Shemesh Fireballs 5 On Tuesday, Tel Aviv captured the women's championship easily this year, ending an unbeaten season with an easy win over Beit Shemesh, breaking open a 5-4 game with 7 runs in the fourth. The big hitter for the Fireballs was DP Batya Jerenberg, with two triples, a single and two RBIs
