Golf: International Pairs qualifying under way

Players given the opportunity to excel, and scores – using a Betterball 75% handicap system – certainly reflected the magnificent conditions.

The local battle to win the unique opportunity to play in the “International Pairs” final at the prestigious Carrich Championship Course on the Loch Lommond in Scotland began yesterday with the first qualifying round at the Ga’ash Golf Club.
With the course in great shape, the players were really given the opportunity to excel, and the scores – using a Betterball 75% handicap system – certainly reflected the magnificent conditions.
Atop the leaderboard at the end of the day were the team of Raphy Harroche and Avraham Levy on 43 Stableford points, followed by Cyril Kaufman and Uri Bogoslovsky, who finished with 42 points. In third place, with 41 points, were both the pairs of Idan Chayut/Gidi Golan and Jacky Mukmel/George Berold.
Nearest-to-the-Pin prize went to Alex Sagy.
EuroAsia, the importers of Rolex watches, remain sponsors of thetournament and provided the players with gifts and culinary delightsthroughout the day. There was also an opportunity to win a Rolex watchwith a hole-in-one on the 9th hole (alas, no one managed to take homethe prize.)
Looking ahead at Ga’ash Golf, the club has a packed month coming upwith a Monthly Medal, the second qualifying round as well as the finalof the “International Pairs” will be held at Ga’ash Golf.
