Oren Levy won the "A" Division at the first monthly medal competition of 2007 at Ga'ash Golf Club on Monday. The 17-year-old Netanya high school student, who recorded a net 70 in windy conditions, played the first nine holes in four-over-par 39, and came back on the back nine with a one-under-par 34, which included four birdies, three pars, a bogey and a double bogey. Professional golfer Andy Nemiroff, who won the event at the 2005 Maccabiah Games, walked the back nine with Levy. "Oren played very well and has come a long way in a short period of time," Nemiroff said. "He practices hard and has a good future ahead of him." Ilan Mendelson was second in the "A" Division with a net 71. Yuval Harary (net 70) came in first in the "B" Division, followed by Norma Kaufman and David Feingold (both net 72). Second-place honors went to Norma, who had a better back-nine. Due to weather conditions on Tuesday, no player in the "C" Division finished their rounds. Ofra Dagan took home the women's closest-to-the-pin prize, 89 centimeters from the par-3, 124-meter hole No. 4. Ilan Mendelson won the honor on the men's side, 1.68 meters from the par-3, 160-meter hole No. 9. In the ongoing 2006/07 knockout competition, Judy Reefe and Norma Kaufman have reached the semifinals in the "A" Division so far, while in the "B" Division, Hadassah Alon and Jill Pik have also reached the semis.
