Israeli point guard and NBA prospect Yotam Halperin worked out with the NBA's fastest-paced team, the Phoenix Suns, on Saturday, two days after a session with the Washington Wizards. Halperin, who has been projected as a second round pick in the June 28 draft, was excited to be working out with NBA teams. "My main goal is to play in the NBA next season," he told the Wizards, who have the 18th and 48th of 60 picks in the draft. Performing well during passing, shooting, and defensive drills, Halperin made 15 of his final 17 shots in Washington on Thursday. When asked about the performance, Yotam attributed the sharp-shooting display to still being in shape from the basketball season. Satisfied with his performance, Halperin said he was glad he made the shots, and discussed the support he's been getting from his fans back home in Israel. "They are giving good feedback to me," he said. "They wish me a lot of luck." Halperin, whose next scheduled workout is with the Indiana Pacers, said he is "glad to have this opportunity," because "not so many Israeli players get the opportunity to play in the NBA." Indeed, if Halperin is drafted on the 28th, he would be one step closer to becoming the first Israeli-born hoopster to play in the NBA.
