Israelis grab four golds at Ashdod meet

The host nation dominated at an international freestyle wrestling meet this weekend in Ashdod, winning four of the weight classes. Some 140 wrestlers from seven countries competed at the event. For Israel, gold medals went to Pavel Sinbeski (under-55 kilograms), Sivan Sedikov (-74kg), Vasili Kalashnikov (-96kg) and Michele Reizman (-120kg). Aleksander Krinski of Belarus (-60kg), Vitaly Kozlov of Ukraine (-66kg) and Valery Andrichov of Ukraine (-84kg) took gold in the other weight classes. Sports Minister Ophir Paz-Pines and Ashdod Mayor Zvi Zilker were on hand to award the medals. One of the most decorated wrestlers of all time, Alexander Medved, was also in attendance. Medved, now the chairman of the Belarus Olympic Committee, won 10 world and three Olympic gold medals in the 1960s and '70s.
