Israel's surfers slightly improved their positions in the third day of the Neil Pryde World Windsurfing Championships on Monday at Lake Garda in Trentino, Italy.
However, with the competition already at its halfway mark, the Israelis will need a much better showing in the second half if they are to win a medal.
The surfers will enjoy a rest day on Tuesday, but will resume the championships on Wednesday, with the final day of racing to be held on Saturday.
Gal Fridman finished in third and 10th in Monday's races and is currently ranked 16th overall. The Olympic champion, who ended Sunday's races in 11th and first place, is yet to recapture the form that won him the gold medal in 2004, but nevertheless remains in the running for a medal.
Sahar Tzubari is ranked 33rd overall after finishing in eighth and second on Monday and in ninth and eighth on Sunday. Nimrod Mashiah is placed five places below Tzubari after coming in 27th and 15th on Monday and fifth and seventh on Sunday.
In the women's competition Lee Korzits is ranked in 16th overall after finishing 12th in the first race on Monday and disqualifying in the second. Korzits, who won the world championships in 2003, finished in seventh twice on Sunday and will looking for an improvement when the competition resumes on Wednesday.
Maayan Davidovich is in 43rd overall after finishing in 18th and 22nd on Monday and 22nd and 27th on Sunday.
