Local Hoops: Center D'or Fischer joins Maccabi Tel Aviv
By ALLON SINAI
Maccabi Tel Aviv continued to rebuild its front-court on Thursday, signing American center D'or Fischer.
The 27-year-old, who played at West Virginia for two seasons (2003-05), led the Belgian league in rebounding and blocking last season, averaging 14.4 points, 10.8 rebounds and 2.8 blocks per game at league runner-up Bree.
The signing of Fischer all but completes Maccabi's roster for next season. The only position that now remains to be filled is at point-guard.
Tel Aviv was hoping to sign Will Solomon, who played for the club in the 2005/06 season, but he has yet to put pen to paper, leaving the team still searching for its playmaker for next season.
It has been a summer of change at Maccabi.
Will Bynum, David Bluthenthal, Nikola Vujcic and Yotam Halperin have all left the team which came second in the Euroleague last season.
And new coach Effi Birenboim has already brought in Rodney White and Jason Williams.
