Israel Football Association chairman Avi Luzon on Thursday named a five-man committee that will investigate the tragic death of Hapoel Beersheba striker Chaswe Nsofwa.
The Zambian collapsed suddenly during Hapoel's training match against Maccabi Beersheba on Wednesday night.
Rescue workers tried to restart Nsofwa's heart for several minutes before taking him to Soroka Hospital in Beersheba, where he was pronounced dead.
The committee will be headed by the IFA's CEO Ori Shilo and will also include Israel national team doctor Mark Rosnovski.
On Wedesday Luzon expressed his feelings after being informed of Nsofwa's death. "We were shocked to hear the news of the tragic death of Chaswe Nsofwa," Luzon said. "We send our condolences to the Nsofwa and Hapoel Beersheba family."
As a mark of respect to Nsofwa a minutes silence was observed at Thursday evening's UEFA Cup matches in Israel and will also be observed at all Premier League and National League Toto Cup matches over the weekend.
No Israeli Premier League games will be played this weekend to allow the national team players to rest ahead of next week's crucial Euro 2008 qualifer against England at Wembley. The teams will instead play the third round of Toto Cup games.
Hapoel Beersheba announced Thursday that all proceeds from the team's next match, the Toto Cup game against Ahi Nazareth on Tuesday, will be donated to Nsofwa's family.
