Andy Ram and Yoni Erlich's run at the Nasdaq-100 Open in Key Biscayne, Florida, came to an abrupt end against the top-ranked Bryan brothers in the semifinals on Thursday morning. Bob and Mike Bryan needed only 54 minutes to dismiss the Israelis 6-2, 6-4 in the day's opening match on Stadium Court.
The Americans served harder and faster than Ram and Erlich (average speed of 206 kph compared to 195 kph), scored more aces (6-1) and were nearly unbeatable when their first serves went in (87%).
The defeat saw the sixth-seeded Israelis' all-time record against the Bryans fall to 3-6.
The $3.45-million Masters Series event across Biscayne Bay from Miami is among the biggest tournaments of the year outside the Grand Slams.
Ram and Erlich's three wins on the way to the semis saw them earn $37,940 and 45 points in the doubles race, which should propel them back into the top 10.
