Udi Gal and Gidi Kliger solidified their place among the top three teams at the 470 Class sailing World Championships in Melbourne on Monday.
The Israeli duo finished its races in second and 11th respectively and climbed to second position overall ahead of the final three races of the competition.
"We're very pleased with the way we're sailing," Gal and Kliger said. "The competition is very tight and each race is of crucial importance."
The final two races of the gold group will be held on Tuesday and the top ten teams in the competition will qualify for the medal race. "Tuesday is a very important day because we want to be well placed ahead of the medal race. We're feeling good, but are staying grounded," Gal and Kliger added.
In the women's competition, Nika Kornecki and Vered Buskila continued to struggle and dropped four places to 18th overall after ending both of Monday's races in 20th place.
