Israel's Taras Shcherenko reached the final of the 400 meters hurdles at the World Junior Championships in Bydgoszcz, Poland on Thursday, finishing his semifinal in second position in a time of 51.60 seconds.
The 18-year-old, who set a personal best of 51.44s in the heats on Wednesday, will become the first Israeli runner to race a final at the junior championships on Friday.
High jumper Niki Palli and shot putter Sivan Jan are the only other Israelis to have competed in a final in the past.
