It was a double celebration for ASA Tel Aviv on Tuesday after the tennis club was victorious in both the men's and women's State Cup finals held at Ra'anana.
Representing ASA Tel Aviv, Harel Levy and Yishai Hadash defeated Andy Ram and Costa Blank of Hapoel Ramat Eliyahu Rishon Lezion. Hadash beat Blank 2-6, 6-2, 6-4, while Levy easily overcame doubles star Ram 6-4, 6-2.
"It is always fun to play here in Israel, especially against Andy [Ram] who is a good friend of mine from the national team," Levy said after the win. "
Also Tuesday, Israeli number one Shahar Pe'er made her first appearance at this year's Israeli Tennis Championships, defeating Jessica Cohen 6-0, 6-1 to advance to the quarterfinals.
On Wednesday Ram will be in action again, but this time in the doubles event with partner Yoni Erlich. The Israel stars will face Liran Strauss and David Steinblatt in the quarterfinals at 1 p.m.
Entrance for spectators to all events at Ra'anana this week is free of charge.
