Israeli swept aside 6-3, 6-2, by Shuai Peng of China in the quarterfinals of the Pattaya Women's Open in Thailand.

Tzipi Obziler's impressive run at the Pattaya Women's Open in Thailand came to an abrupt end Friday morning when the Israeli was swept aside 6-3, 6-2, by Shuai Peng of China in the quarterfinals.
Obziler will climb at least 20 places from her current WTA ranking of 139 on Monday. She won five matches on her way to the last eight, advancing past three qualifying rounds before upsetting top-100 opponents in her first- and second-round matches.
Obziler, 33, ran out of gas on Friday and was unable to get the better of a higher ranked opponent for a third straight time, allowing Peng (42) to run away with the match.
Obziler won the first game but Peng answered back immediately, holding her serve and breaking the Israeli in the third game of the set. Peng broke Obziler twice more in the first set.
Obziler grabbed a 2-0 lead in the second set. But Peng raised her level of play and reeled off six straight games to win the set and match.
Despite losing, Obziler has an excellent chance of finally breaking into the top 100 in the coming months, as she has no ranking points to defend until August.
