Tennis: Pe'er, Obziler on course for final clash in Ra'anana

Shahar Pe'er and Tzipi Obziler remained on course for a meeting in the final of the Israeli tennis Championships with quarterfinal wins on Wednesday. Israel's top two women players advanced to the semifinals at Ra'anana, but each did so in entirely different fashion. Pe'er cruised to the last four, defeating Nadine Fahum 6-1, 6-1. Obziler, on the other hand, had to comeback from a set down to defeat Julia Glushko 2-6, 6-0, 6-2. Pe'er faces Keren Shlomo in the semis on Thursday, with Obziler to play Evgenia Linetskaya. In the men's semifinals, Harel Levy will play Amir Wientraub and Noam Okun will face Dekel Valtzer. No. 1 seed Levy needed just 30 minutes to get the better of Gal Hakak (6-0, 6-0) on Wednesday, with Noam Okun (2) beating Gilad Ben-Tzvi 6-1, 6-2. Andy Ram and Yoni Erlich won both their quarterfinal and semifinal matches in the doubles competition on Wednesday and will play Weintraub and Costa Blanek in the final of the doubles tournament on Thursday.
