A growth of 46 percent in the number of tourists visiting Israel was seen in February 2008, in comparison to February 2007, according to the Tourism Ministry. "A series of marketing campaigns for Israel, which are scheduled to be launched during March, will help maintain the growth in the number of visiting tourists despite the global economic crisis," Tourism Ministry director-general Shaul Tzemah said Tuesday. Some 200,000 tourists entered Israel during February, including 141,400 who arrived on 4,800 direct flights. Some 25,000 tourists - mainly from Russia, Ukraine and Poland - visited Israel for a one-day trip.
