Ministry sets NIS 176m. aside for hotels

Some NIS 55.5m. was approved for new and expanded hotel facilities in Tiberias, while NIS 11m. will be directed to the expansion of a vacation village in the Golan Heights.

The Industry, Trade and Labor Ministry has approved a budget of NIS 176 million for the construction and expansion of hotels outside the center of the country, ministry officials announced Monday. The decision, reached following discussions with Tourism Ministry General Director Shaul Zemach, gave its largest allocation, NIS 105m., for guest facilities in the Negev, including NIS 70m. for the construction of a hotel and vacation village in Mitzpe Ramon. Some NIS 55.5m. was approved for new and expanded hotel facilities in Tiberias, while NIS 11m. will be directed to the expansion of a vacation village in the Golan Heights. The remainder of the budget will be allocated for the expansion of guest facilities in Eilat.
