US President Barack Obama met with Tibet's exiled spiritual leader the Dalai Lama at the White House Saturday. As per usual, the meeting was closed to the press. And as is also usually the case, the Chinese government said they wanted the meeting canceled.China accuses the Dalai Lama of being a separatist who supports the use of violence to set up an independent Tibet.Obama said that while the US does consider Tibet to be a part of China, he reiterated the need for protecting human rights for Tibetans there.Earlier this year, the Dalai Lama relinquished his political responsibilities. A Harvard educated law scholar was elected to take his place.
