Man hit by car and killed on Route 1 near Jerusalem

A man was killed on Route 1 at the Harel junction near Jerusalem on Thursday, after he stepped out of his vehicle on the side of the highway and was struck by a passing vehicle.

Police said the man had stepped out of his vehicle on the shoulder in order to change a flat tire when he was hit by an oncoming vehicle.

MDA paramedics pronounced the approximately 25-year-old man dead on the scene.

Police are investigating the incident.
