IDF soldier removed from duty after failing to respond during attack

An IDF combat soldier was removed from duty in his unit following an investigation into a stabbing attack at the beginning of the month,  the army announced on Sunday.
On June 1, a 16 year-old female Palestinian assailant stabbed an Israeli soldier outside the Mevo Dotan settlement in the West Bank.  A video of the incident, which was posted on YouTube, showed a security guard saw her heading toward the community’s gate and yelled at her to stand back. She is seen ignoring the guard and headed towards a group of soldiers by the gate.
According to an Israel Police spokeswoman, the assailant identified as Nof Infiaat, a 16-year-old from the town of Ya'bad near Jenin, then stabbed one of the soldiers before she ran off and later neutralized by another soldier who responded to the attack.
According to the statement by the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit, the soldier did not neutralize her “as expected of him as a combat soldier in the IDF,” and was therefore dismissed from the elite Maglan unit after the investigation into the incident.
Both Infiaat and the wounded soldier was taken to the Hadera hospital to receive treatment for the stab wounds he sustained to his upper body. Infiaat later died of her wounds.
