1500 families will receive aid from the JNF to build their homes in the North and South of Israel, in addition, 800 new building sites will be completed with the aid of the JNF by 2019. The news were announced during the Jewish National Fund USA 2017 National Conference on Friday.
Housing Minister Yoav Galant thanked the JNF donors and said that it is: "our sacred duty to make sure every Jew…can look to Israel as their homeland." Dorit Narisna, a mother of three who had recently moved to Moshav Hatzeva in the central Arava south of the Dead Sea, thanked the JNF Housing Development Fund.
"Without the Housing Fund, we would not see the construction of our own house come to fruition – it's simply too complicated and too expensive," she said.
Israel's Ambassador to the US Ron Dermer addressed the audience in the Friday conference and said that the JNF Blue donation box is "one of the great symbols of the Jewish world" and said that anyone who placed even a few coins in the donation box became "a partner with Israel."
The Housing Fund provides communities with direct loans that are paid back at a set date, providing them with the capital they need to build much needed family homes and grow.
