A soldier sustained light wounds from gunfire during a West Bank shooting attack at Hakvasim Junction, in the South Hebron Hills on Sunday.
The army said a Palestinian gunman opened fire on soldiers that were checking vehicles at the junction. The wounded soldier was evacuated to hospital. The army began sweeps of the area following the attack.
The area has seen an increase in attacks recently.
At the end of December, a 25-year-old Hebron man attempted to stab a soldier with a screwdriver at a checkpoint at Hakvasim junction. Nearby soldiers fatally shot the attacker before he was able to reach them, the army said.
