Security camera footage captured the dramatic moments before and after the stabbing attack in the West Bank on Monday that claimed the life of a 25-year-old woman.
The woman, Dalya Lamkus, was killed at the Alon Shvut junction in the Gush Etzion area. The attack came hours after an IDF soldier was stabbed and critically wounded by a terrorist in Tel Aviv.
The Islamic Jihad organization claimed responsibility for both of the terror attacks on Monday while Hamas welcomed it as a “heroic operation.”
A statement issued by Islamic Jihad said that one of its members carried out the two “heroic operations.”
Islamic Jihad in Palestine “applauds the two heroic operations and welcomes the escalation of our people’s intifada against the occupation,” the statement said.
“We emphasize that this is the response of the Palestinian people to the crimes of the occupation army against Jerusalem and the Aqsa Mosque,” the organization said. “The operations are also in response to the occupation’s crimes in the town of Kufar Kana (in the Galilee).”
The organization said that the “battle for the Aksa Mosque and Jerusalem would continue and expand.”
Hamas also hailed the attacks as “heroic operations.”
Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri said in a statement that his movement “welcomes the heroic operations on the streets of the homeland and considers them a response to the occupation’s crimes against Jerusalem and the Aksa Mosque.”
Abu Zuhri said that the attacks were a “message of warning to the occupation before the explosion of the situation.” He called on Palestinians to carry out more terror attacks.
