Danon: Do not repeat the injustice of disengagement

Deputy Defense Minister Danny Danon on Saturday addressed the resumption of the peace process between Israelis and the Palestinians, saying that we must not repeat the "injustice of the disengagement [in Gaza] by returning to the '67 borders."

In a statement released to the press, Danon, who holds the ceremonial title of Likud convention chairman, added that the government "must not uproot thousands of Jews from their homes."

Commenting on the announcement that Israel has agreed to release Palestinian prisoners as a gesture for the resumption of peace talks, Danon stated: "We must learn from our past mistakes and not free terrorists with blood on their hands, neither as a gesture nor as a reward."
