Distress transmitters to be available for geriatric patients

The Yad Sarah organization will provide distress transmitters to all elderly hospital patients living in geriatric nursing institutions so they don’t won’t feel alone.
The voluntary organization, founded by Uri Lupolianski, is based in Jerusalem and has 105 branches around the country that lend out medical equipment and provide other services for the sick, lonely and disabled.
The transmitters will notify headquarters around the clock if the user falls or is shaken by someone. In the case of an untoward event, Yad Sarah volunteers can call for medical assistance or other help.
The decision followed reports of physical abuse of elderly residents at Haifa’s Nave Kipat Hazahav private geriatric nursing hospital.
