The army has named Col. Ronen Manelis as the new IDF spokesman, taking over from Maj.-Gen. Moti Almoz who was appointed head of the IDF’s Manpower Directorate in January. Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman approved the appointment.

Manelis, who currently serves as assistant to the chief of staff, will be promoted to rank of brigadier general. Deputy Defense Minister Eli Ben-Dahan congratulated Manelis on his appointment, saying that he is a “dedicated, hard-working and attentive” individual who is “professional in his work in the IDF.” The appointment will take effect in the coming months.
