Israel, Europe see rise in Salmonella cases

There has been an increase in the prevalence of Salmonella bacteria in eggs in Israel and Europe in recent months, the Health Ministry reported on Wednesday. The bacteria caused gastrointestinal problems in many people.
The cause in Israel was believed to be eggs, but the source has not been pinned down. Among the European countries affected were Britain, Holland, Italy, Hungary, Norway and Sweden – apparently from eggs that were exported from Poland. The ministry urged the public to cook eggs well and clean kitchen work surfaces properly, separating raw food from cooked food.
