Jerusalem Municipality reportedly approves new NIS 1b. PMO and residence

A new NIS 1 billion state-of-the-art Prime Minister’s Office and residential compound was approved by the Jerusalem District Planning and Building Committee on Tuesday night, Channel 10 reported.

Although the Jerusalem Municipality did not confirm the move on Wednesday, according to the report the sprawling five-to-eight-story structure will be situated near the High Court of Justice and Knesset, in the neighborhood of Givat Ram.

It remains unclear who will design the new facility, or what will become of the prime minister’s current residence, located in the upscale neighborhood of Rehavia. The new compound will reportedly feature an underground bunker and areas designated for official ceremonies.
