US Secretary of State John Kerry expressed regret in his response to criticism of his use of the word "apartheid" in relation to Israel in a conversation caught on tape by The Daily Beast on Monday.
"I will not allow my commitment to Israel to be questioned by anyone, particularly for partisan, political purposes," he said. "I have been around long enough to also know the power of words to create a mis-impression, even when unintentional, and if I could rewind the tape, I would have chosen a different word."
