Iran’s leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei issued a fatwa banning unrelated men and women from chatting online.

Khamenei’s decision came in response to a question sent to him on his website, Al Arabiya reported, quoting Iranian media.

“Given the immorality that often applies to this, it is not permitted,” Khamenei wrote.

While many Iranian leaders have a large presence on social media websites, many are blocked in Iran, including Facebook and Twitter.
