Jerusalem District Police Commander Major-General Yoram Halevy ordered that the Temple Mount be closed off to Jewish worshipers and visitors Wednesday morning after a group of Jewish visitors breached the rules of conduct that apply to the holy site.

The group of visitors who interrupted the peace at the Mount was removed by security forces.

Police is expecting further disruptions throughout the day as Palestinian demonstrators are slated to hold mass rallies in protest over the placement of metal detectors at the entrance to the site following Friday's terror attack, which claimed the life of two border policemen.
