Police arrest 28 in east Jerusalem drug raid

Police arrested 28 Arab suspects from east Jerusalem overnight Monday allegedly involved in drug trafficking, after an undercover officer infiltrated the illicit ring for several months.
According to Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld, the arrests took place after enough evidence was gathered by the agent.
“During the arrests, operation teams raided dozens of buildings, businesses and apartments in Jerusalem and searched the premises,” said Rosenfeld on Tuesday. “The agent gathered information on the suspects for a period of eight months before the arrests were made. The drugs seized included cocaine and LSD, with a street value estimated at hundreds of thousands of dollars.”
Rosenfeld noted that among the 28 apprehended, 17 are minors, adding that more arrests are expected. All the suspects arrested will appear before the Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court.
