Report: Syria already has Russian S-300 missile system

A Syrian military source told the London-based Arab daily Al-Quds Al-Arabi that Syria has received 200 launchers of the advanced S-300 anti-aircraft missile system from Russia. The delivery supposedly took place after the outbreak of the Syrian conflict and the Syrian experts have finished their training and can operate the system independently without the need to be managed by Russian experts.

This report contradicts other sources that state that Russia has not yet delivered the advanced anti-aircraft system to Syria. Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu visited Russia on Tuesday and was expected to try to convince Russian President Vladimir Putin from carrying out the deal.

Netanyahu and Putin were meeting in the Russian city of Sochi.
