Sources in the negotiating team of the ruling Likud faction told The Jerusalem Post late Thursday that "significant progress" has been made in negotiations with Avigdor Liberman's Yisrael Beytenu party over its joining the coalition.

The deal being discussed calls for Liberman to replace Moshe Ya'alon as defense minister. Liberman's faction would also receive the immigrant absorption portfolio.
